HTC Sensation XL: XL pixels and a Beats headphones

HTC recently announced the “HTC Sensation XL”, which as its name indicates a large format version of HTC Sensation announced last April, but not only.

The main contribution of the newcomer is the screen with a diagonal peaks at 4.7 inches (11.9 cm), against already 4.3 inches for the original model. But the definition unfortunately fall to 800 x 480 pixels, making it significantly coarser display compared to 960 x 540 pixels predecessor on a smaller surface. The pixels will be well and truly “XL”.

Congestion mechanically peaked with 132.5 x 70.7 mm, but the additional area would spread the components and the finesse is reduced to 9.9 mm, against 11.3 previously. Nevertheless, the “HTC Sensation XL” does not slip into any pocket. Weight increases meanwhile in proportion from 148 to 162.5 g.

Under the hood? in Aluminium? Qualcomm Snapdragon chip passes in exchange for a bi-heart MSM8260 1.2 GHz (1.5 GHz and even on XE) to a simple heart MSM8255 1.5 GHz, and the amount of internal memory 1 to 16 GB, at the expense of the removable microSDHC card slot (potentially 32 GB) who disappears. RAM stagnates in turn to the 768 MB data sheet is lowered, strange for a “XL” version!

We find also a CMOS sensor backlit 8 megapixels, topped with a wide angle lens and bright, offering a 28mm equivalent f / 2.2, but the video camera function is also back as it shoots more than 720p, not 1080p Full HD.

The “HTC Sensation XL” will be released in early November in France, where it will come with a specific model Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, for an undisclosed price.
