HTC Desire 500: Sense 5 on an entry-level smartphone (upd)

Contrary to what we thought when it was announced year ago Asia two weeks, the HTC Desire 500 will be marketed in the West.

The manufacturer actually has just announced the launch in France. It goes on sale in September at a retail price of 250 euros.

HTC announced the Desire 500, an entry-level Android smartphone for Asian youth who has the interest to benefit from the HTC Sense 5.

A few days after formalized the Mini One in the West, HTC today announced the Desire 500 in Taiwan.

This Android smartphone entry is likely to remain restricted to Asia and emerging countries, but it demonstrates that Sense 5 and several of its key features operate with relatively low-performance components.

The HTC Desire 500 is actually just a SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, expandable to 64 GB via ‘ a microSD slot. A retro-exposed pixels 8 million sensor wearing an equivalent lens 28mm f / 2 is located at the back, a sensor of 1.6 million pixels in the front.

It nevertheless has the customizable home screen BlinkFeed, allows shooting in burst and shoot in HD 720p simultaneously, or to present the highlights of an event as Video Highlights 30 seconds.

In return, the 4.3 inch screen displays a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, a relatively low resolution. The shell is plastic and not metal, as in the range One. Connectivity includes 3G + peaking at 7.2 Mb / s, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi N.

The HTC Desire 500 will be soon marketed in Taiwan, coupled with attractive offers for students and young adults with the operator Taiwan Mobile.
